Let me tell you, it's been a busy week. There's so much to tell and I'm sure there's so much I've missed. Let me try to recap the highlights though. Here goes:

- Yenny replaced my hard drive for me, giving me access once again to the internet. Things it took me a day or two to realize that I lost include: workout/diet/sleep log, iTunes playlist, internet bookmarks, digital photos from the last two years
- I totally rocked when I played flag football with Stora's friends over at Frost Middle school, being called the MVP of the three hour session, along with comparisons made with T.O. and Deion...not bad company.
- Christmas was spent with family (mine and Anna's), eating lots of food and playing trivial pursuit, this addictive game (high score 30.906 sec), and putting together puzzles.
- My Christmas haul: books from family white elephant and iPod shuffle from the gf
- Final fantasy football standings: family league (7th), money league (2nd), random league (2nd), Ben/Thuy random league (1st)

I know there's a lot more, but that's all I can remember right now. I'll add more later. Anyway, today was a pretty busy day too. In addition to three hours of napping on the sofa, I worked out for the first time since playing football last weekend, filled up my car with gas, and ran 1.4 miles according to this awesome route mapping site while waiting for my fifteen dollar oil change.

Other than that, looking forward to the weekend...two cool parties beginning with Friday night at Jane's for a video game thing and new year's at one of Anna's friends.

I think I know what it feels like in hell now. You see, when I wiggled my mouse first thing this morning, the screen remained blank. Then after restarting time and again, I was met with the feared blue screen, which gave me a message implying that my hard drive has failed...something not particularly surprising considering what my computer had been through in its four-year lifetime, which included a year in Aghanistan, as it certainly has the scars to show it.

Anyway, for the time being, I am not completely internetless. That would indeed be hell. Instead, I'm upstairs on Joe's computer checking out Dell.com (while watching JT on SNL to cheer me up). I'm this close (pinching fingers) to buying a refurb avec 20-inch flat panel monitor for about $700...a really good deal, but I think I'll wait for the 3Com conference call tonight before making any big purchases.

Oh well...enough of the depressing stuff. Yesterday was a fun cheap double date night with Lenny and Steph and Anna, half-priced burgers at Brion's Grille, followed by half-priced movie tickets to Little Miss Sunshine. Then today, I'm hanging out with Anna and friends at the Festival of Lights over in Bull Run by my house. Good times.

I ended up spending a lot of QT with Anna this weekend, starting with Poker night at Stora's on Friday night. Anna won the big pot (70 bucks) while knocking me out of the game twice. That was followed up with a 4-mile run on Saturday with her sister over at Great Falls. That was followed by a huge order of GTC and passing out on the sofa while watching a Back to the Future marathon on tv. Then we linked up with Ben and Stacy (girl from class) at Ben's place, where we played game after game of Boggle...sooo good. Then we went over to the AOL party at Udvar-Hazy where we linked up with Lissa and Mike. Items of note from the AOL party include flashing LED rings and ice souvenirs, scantily clad dancers in the Kitti Lounge, a Napoleon Dynamite-themed cover band, free food, and the SR-71 Blackbird.

On Sunday, I was just lazy and watched football and played some video games. Yeah, that's about it. Other things of note...I just realized that I don't get MSNBC with Dish. Can someone record Hardball for me at 5:00 or 7:00 tonight? It's looking like Matt Damon generated a little bit of contraversy with his remarks. What else? I just checked my grades online and I have three As and one incomplete for last semester so far. That last grade will eventually become an A...long story though. I'm not worried.

Days like these are pretty cool...and they would never come for an employed person like most of you people are. You see, yesterday morning, I stopped by Mason to pick up tickets for the Hardball screening. I only showed up maybe 15 minutes before the box office opened, but I was still number twelve in line...probably had something to do with finals and the rain and maybe the lack of publicity for the event. Anyway, I got my ticket. I was happy. So I show up today and there is this huge line of a few hundred people...maybe close to a thousand waiting for the showing. It's cool...pretty friendly and only a few punks cutting. Anyway, I'd never been to a taping of a tv show before, so it's all pretty exciting for me to see all of the stuff involved in making it happen. They even let us take pictures during the commercial breaks. The lighting was kinda bad, but I got a couple that came out alright.

Anyway, I'll be watching when the episode is supposed to air on Monday to see if they edit out my scream or not. It should come before the second commercial break, I think. Chris and Matt make some joke about being a Harvard student playing a role as a Yale student in the movie being a step down, when I yell in the background, "MASON!!!" I really hope that doesn't get cut out along with the one lady in the audience silly enough to bring a baby to the taping.

After the show, I went to the gym in the field house to work out...since I haven't done that in a while. I ended up putting up 245 two times on the bench...which I'm pretty sure is my PR. That was on my fourth set, too, so I think my true max is probably somewhere around 260-270. I'm thinking I'll take a little more time to work on that and maybe I can join the 300 club sometime next year. That's all I've got for now though. I'm gonna go for a run with Anna to finish of the evening.

Let's see...I spent another eight hours or so writing two papers and a couple of short vignettes to be included with another. Then I came home after class to an e-mail from my prof about a few changes I needed to make to the project I finished yesterday. The changes took about an hour to make and I am now down to one project left for tomorrow morning. I will also be heading to Mason tomorrow morning sometime around 10:00 because it looks like Matt Damon will be joining Robert DeNiro on campus for a taping of Hardball with Chris Matthews on Thursday to promote the Good Shepherd. Unfortunately, they will only be giving away one ticket to each of the first 200 people who show up with a GMU ID tomorrow. So even if I get one, I can't bring anyone else with.

Anyway, other than that, there isn't all that much to share. I am so happy to be done with a majority of my classes for the semester though. One more tomorrow and I'll be free.

Okay, I guess I'm allowed to blog again. There's just so much to write about from this last week that I cannot even stick with the paragraph format. I will go with a nice long list and let my stream of consciousness run wild.

- Spent eight hours working on my final project for my Web Accessibility class today
- Spent another three hours working on proofing a paper for my Social Justice class
- Did not work on my paper(s) for my Literacy class...which I must finish tomorrow by 4:00
- Made the playoffs in 3 out of 4 fantasy football leagues this year...and I'm still glowing about my Romo/TO/Shaun trade for LT in my one league.
- Ate six cups of pasta mixed in with a can of campbell's soup for dinner today and chased it down with two oatmeal creme pies, currently my "healthy" snack of choice
- Discovered (i.e. Anna told me) that the whole Pork "other white meat" campaign was just a misleading ploy to sell more pork to the increasingly health-conscious citizenry of the 80s and 90s
- Won one of two flag football games this weekend, getting burned by just a few inches on a fade route in the losing effort - worst play ever. I will redeem myself.
- Hung out with Ben, Thuy and the fam at Steph's birthday party last Friday night...good time, lots of food, and Wii
- Asked a girl in one of my classes to go to the AOL christmas party with Ben...along with me, Anna, and some others. It was awkward, but strangely fun and exciting.
- Stole Christmas lights from my old house and helped Anna put up lights for her place. I just don't have room for a tree over here.
- Played guitar hero on PS2 and ate Chipotle with Anna, Celeste, and Russ while my nose was running from dust and cat allergies
- Spent about $150 on a suit (for AOL party and any funerals I will need to attend in the near future - none currently planned) and two pairs of jeans after being dejected when I couldn't track down a Wii or PS3 after Pepe informed me that shipments had been made to a few local Best Buy stores

That is all for now. I will certainly start writing more after I wrap up the semester on Wednesday.

I feel like my creativity has been severely stunted ever since I took my break from teaching. I think part of it has to do with me no longer having a captive audience of impressionable adolescents every day. Instead, most of my creative juices are only revealed to half a dozen dorky guys who read my musings on my fantasy football message board. Whatever I can do to keep sharp, though, right?

I guess I bring this up because it is usually at this time that I start working on my physics carols. And while I could do the same this year, I have yet to switch to my "all Christmas carols all day" playlist on iTunes. Of course, that time is not so far away at this point...give me another week or two.

Oh, speaking of which, my family came to an awesome decision this year. We will be doing a white elephant gift exchange this year, relieving everyone of the pressure of finding the perfect gift for each other. With some luck, AAFES will hurry up and ship me my PS3 so I can throw it in the pot. That would be the best. Anyway, along with the white elephant exchange, the family seems to be planning a texas hold'em tourney and some scrabble. Talk about getting into the Christmas spirit.

Honestly, there is no reason for me to be up right now. I spent all day working on projects and papers I've been procrastinating on all week. I woke up early and spent the first six waking hours of the day working on my literacy strategy notebook for my first class today. It spilled over into the three hours I had allotted for my research paper introduction I was writing for my second class. Because of that, I had to forego my daily shower and I still showed up to class about ten minutes late. All is well, though, as I got everything turned in on time. Even more fortunate was the fact that one of my classmates in my 7:00 class brought pitas and hummus, as I was starving because of my skipped meals on account of my complete dedication to my work. Up until that point, I had consumed maybe 500 Calories on the day.

Of course, I followed that up with a 10:00 visit to the Bell with Thuy on my way home from class. It'd been a while since I'd seen him - plus it was nice catching up since he just started back at Booz this week after taking a two-month leave of absence. Me, I've still got somewhere around eight months left with mine, and things are going swimmingly if I say so myself. Wouldn't you agree?

As always, I was going through all of my investment stuff as the opening bell rang this morning (usually bounce between that and fantasy), and then I run across this video on Forbes.com, usually not known for its fun and exciting material. But this one was pretty interesting. It was about this guy that they called the "Jared of Nintendo Wii" because he's dropped two pant sizes since he started playing about nine days ago.

Other than that, here's a very quick recap of the weekend. Saturday was our standard December drill, filled with all of the year's required briefings. That was about as fun as 5 hours of powerpoint slides could be, and that was followed by our holiday party at the American Legion post in Fairfax behind PVI. I went there with Anna, though we were kinda late and didn't end up getting to sit down much...or at all, really. We didn't even eat much there, and wound up grabbing some thai afterwards, stuffing ourselves while playing Prince of Persia on her sister's PS2.

And as much as I'd rather not discuss it, I had my flag football game yesterday too. We won by a lot, but I probably had one of my worst showings ever. I actually got there really early and practiced my long snapping a bit so that I could play center for the day. I did that part well...and I played some pretty good defense too. But on the recieving end, I tripped right before my first potential TD pass in the end zone. Then I had another one bounce off of my hands and yet another one bounce off of my hands and into the hands of a defender. At one point, I just told Dave to stop throwing to me. I don't think I've ever been so embarrassed. However, in the second half, I made two nice little catches to almost make up for it. We still won in the end.

Seriously? I must be the best teacher ever. I just got home from a midnight trip to the Merrifield post office to ensure that a teacher recommendation for one of my students from last year would get there on time. Granted, I wouldn't have had to make the trip if I would have written the recommendation three weeks ago when she asked me...but that shouldn't detract from the enormous sacrifices I make for my students. Oh yeah, I stopped by the taco bell across the street from the post office on my way home. Mmm...

Anyway, it's been a busy last couple of days since Thanksgiving. I went on a couple of runs with Anna, and we went to the skins game together on Sunday too. We also ended up doing a Jet Li mini movie marathon over the weekend. It was nice. She had off from work all last week, so we got some good QT in. This week will be a different story, however, with me slowly realizing that putting off that end of the quarter project can get a little complicated when I'm taking four classes, each with an end of the quarter project. Yeah...right...
